Simply, ‘unputdownable’
NENU
– BAHUVACHANAM (Telugu)
Writer-Journalist
Mulugu Rajeswara Rao
This is the story or
biopic - as the author loves to call it - of a man who braved setback after
setback in life, took them in his stride and moved on regardless.
Rajeswara Rao, basically a journalist, donned
many hats during his eventful career. He dabbled with varying degrees of
success in printing, publishing, advertising, marketing, software projects,
venture funding etc.
By dint of sheer
merit and hard work, he rose to collaborate with such global companies as
Microsoft, Satyam, Wells Fargo, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC), the BBC, et
cetera. Two top politicians of the day who later became Chief Ministers were
his ‘clients’. He formulated a business strategy for one and political strategy
for another. Remarkable achievement for a man without a Godfather and sound financial background.
It was a snake and
ladder affair for the author to whom destiny had been less than fair. It was
roses all the way in all his plans, but something turned sour at the last
moment. The setbacks failed to deter him, though. Significantly, the writer
refuses to evoke sympathy or indulge in self-pity or blame destiny for his
woes. He comes out as a self-respecting man with uncompromising conviction and
values.
Rajeswara Rao
captures the moments, moods, emotions, joys and heartbreaks in vivid detail.
The narration is gripping and the writing style racy. Rajeswara Rao’s work
makes for compelling reading. Simply,‘unputdownable.’
The narration also
throws, through the eyes of a middle class man interesting light on the murky
manoeuvres in the press, the real face of some journalists, behind the screen
happenings in trade and business. The book devotes limited space to his
personal life which too includes setbacks.
‘If I were in his place, I would have
committed suicide a hundred times,’ commented a staunch well-wisher on the
author’s strong will and self-belief.
All said and done,
‘Nenu – Bahuvachanam’ needs to be read by every book-lover, especially
journalists.
